what the hell are defensive and assault grenades???

Well assualt grenades let you strike simultanously with the enemy in cover

yeah, like frags, do defence grenades let you escape from sweeping advance, or is that just tau grenades...?

Plague marines are equipped with defensive grenades called blight grenades. Blight grenades are any form of grenade that temporarily stuns or disorientates the enemy. The practical, in game use of these is that when the unit equipped with them is assaulted, the assaulting unit does not get the usual extra attacks.

This is different to 'defensive grenades' i do believe

Although i have lost my codex (damn and blast to hell), i have been reading the chaos space marine codex on scribd and am 100% sure that blight grenades come under the heading of defensive grenades.

I'm not denying it may class them as 'defensive' but according to the rulebook:
They neget all charging bonus, unless the unit was already locked in close combat the previous turn or has gone to ground

I'm quite sure that's what james has just said...

As you can see budda, his post states the unit doesn't get the extra attack
This is not so as it can be negated and also affects such things as furious charge.
I was merely pointing out that if thats what they do they are different to 'normal' defensive grenades

I'm pretty sure this means all extra attacks, including furious charge as they get more attacks WHEN THEY ASSAULT meaning they do not get the usual EXTRA ATTACKS. If he didn't write it i'm pretty sure that's what he meant
